Recently, Rotary volunteers Leslie Shur, David Stoeffel and Maggie Stoeffel joined with two dozen Friends of Wissahickon, nearby neighbors, and community volunteers to remove invasive plants in the section of St Martins Lane in Chestnut Hill. This area of the Cresheim Valley Trail is closed to traffic and is frequently used by hikers, dog walkers, and occasional horseback riders.

According to the Friends of Wissahickon officials, "We had a great turnout and made a big impact in the woodland and along the street. For everyone who contributed, a big ‘thank you.’" The group plans on additional workdays in the area beginning in April. Meanwhile, the group encouraged everyone to be vigilant about illegal dumping and to report it through 311.
