Chestnut Hill Rotary teamed up with PAR Recycle Works last week to recycle electronics including old computers, televisions, small appliances to help change lives.

PAR-Recycle Works is a non-profit electronics recycler providing transitional employment, job skill training and permanent job placement to people returning from prison. The organization provides job skills training and a permanent job placement program. Rotarians and members of the community made significant donations. Linda Gerhard from Gerhard Appliances donated more than 20 computers, electrical cords, and laptops to the event.

Donors benefit because they are safely recycling and doing something for the environment. PAR-Recycle benefits because need the items to keep their machinery and workers busy.

“We need supplies to continue our mission of reducing recidivism and providing training and development to those returning from prison,” said Dr. Barry Corbin, Customer Relations Manager. Corbin explained that they can pick up corporate e-waste or even establish a static collection box at business locations.

A larger, community-focused event is planned for November 15, location to be determined.
