One of Rotary’s many strengths is its term limits on leadership positions. This ensures that Rotary’s leaders have energy and that they bring in fresh ideas. Each year, on July 1, Rotary leadership changes in the 34,000 clubs, located in 200 countries around the globe. Even the Rotary International President changes each year.

Chestnut Hill Rotary is no exception and new club officers and directors were installed at a Breakfast Program meeting on June 24 by then District Governor Janice Biros. But, one of Rotary’s greatest strengths can also one of its greatest challenges. Momentum can be hard to gain and easy to lose.
To ensure continued momentum and continuity, Chestnut Hill Rotary members developed a multi-year Strategic Plan and new Vision Statement and commitment to drive positive change for everyone in Northwest Philadelphia and beyond. Chestnut Hill Rotary is aiming for continued growth in membership and achieving long-term goals to create lasting impact. This past year’s impact saw Chestnut Hill Rotary gain new members and donate 1,100 volunteer hours, and $43,000, benefitting 32 organizations.
“Continuity in Rotary isn’t about doing things the exact same way we’ve done them before, or merely continuing every project begun by your predecessor,” said Past Rotary International President R. Gordon R. McInally. “Continuity is about transformation. It’s about adapting to a rapidly changing world…. It’s about becoming more inclusive so we can expand our reach…”
This year’s Rotary International President Olayinka H. Babalola called on members to Create Lasting Impact by making their clubs more welcoming, carrying out impactful projects, and allowing their Rotary experiences to transform them personally. Chestnut Hill Rotary will no doubt continue to do just that.
The club also maintains a separate 501 c 3 organization, The Rotary Club of Chestnut Hill Foundation. For a complete list of leadership, visit the Club’s Leadership page.
