Warm Clothing Drive for Prevention Point Philadelphia's Clients Set

In support of Martin Luther King's birthday on January 19—a day dedicated to encouraging Americans to participate in community service—Chestnut Hill Rotary is conducting a Warm Winter Clothing Drive to benefit clients of Prevention Point Philadelphia.

Rotary is collecting adult scarves, sweaters. gloves, socks, hats, boots, and sleeping bags for the drive.

“We encourage members, friends, neighbors to gather and donate warm winter clothing and supplies for a chili dinner for 200,” said Maggie Stoeffel, Community Service Committee Co-Chair. This year’s drive is build off the success of previous years’ projects celebrating MLK’s birthday.

Prevention Point Philadelphia (PPP) serves thousands of people each year who are experiencing homelessness and substance abuse disorders. Chestnut Hill Rotary members frequently volunteer time and make donations to support their clients.

Stoeffel also announced that the club volunteers will be preparing a chili dinner for 200 of Prevention Point’s clients on February 11 .

Members of the public can also drop off donations 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, Center on the Hill, Ground Floor, 8855 Germantown Avenue (next to Chestnut Hill Hospital). For other drop off times, contact Maggie Stoeffel at maggie.stoeffel@gmail.com.
